Two very different trends
Two very different trends

This year, two super-stylish trends are being talked about in all the interior design blogs and magazines. But they couldn’t be more different!

Maximalism

In 2023, many homeowners will be shunning neutrals in favour of bold colours and patterns. Making a statement and helping kitchens and bathrooms to stand out from all the rest, we can expect to see blues, greens, and pinks – amongst other colours – being used to create interest and impact. Even black will make an impact this year for those who love a dark indulgent aesthetic.

Bold patterned tiles and splashbacks are also in vogue as people inject a big dash of fun and personality into their homes. And look out for statement wallpaper that creates a focal point in kitchens and bathrooms.

If you love the idea of maximalist design but don’t feel brave enough to decorate with patterned tiles and wallpaper, painting the walls an eye-catching colour can be just as impactful. And it won’t cost you too much to fix things if you later decide you don’t like it!

While you might shudder at the thought of an avocado bathroom suite, colourful sinks are making a comeback in 2023. Especially when paired with bold brassware. And, whether you want a modern, distinctive look that adds a natural infusion of style, or a beautiful, traditional, and timeless feel with a contemporary lift, our range of coloured taps includes Chrome, Brushed Nickel, Gunmetal, Antique Brass, and Copper.

Open shelving is also a key maximalist design trend, especially when paired with beautiful crockery or accessories!

Escapism

This year, creating a sense of escapism in the home is also very much in fashion. And escapism works beautifully with a neutral colour palette, so it’s a perfect choice for those who want to stay on-trend but prefer a more subtle, calm, and paired-back look.

Escapism is about incorporating those luxurious elements you would expect in a boutique hotel. For ‘spathrooms’, this can be as simple as upgrading your towels and toiletries and buying scented candles to create a spa-like vibe. Alternatively, you could upgrade to stylish taps or a power shower to create an indulgent, luxury bathroom without the hassle of a full remodel.

For kitchens, the easiest way to embrace escapism is to add natural materials such as ceramic, wood, stone, rattan, and linen. Adding some beautiful plants and herbs will also help to create a restorative space that delivers a feeling of renewal and relaxation.

If you really want to give your kitchen a luxury makeover, why not invest in striking marble or quartz worktops and metallic brassware to create an elegant, affluent, and confident look.

Curved design also works well when creating a sense of escapism. With no harsh lines or angles, curves make rooms feel soft, cocooning, natural and cosy. Consider investing in curved kitchen and bathroom taps to maximise this aesthetic.
